Also, this should be a sticky. It comes up about once a week, feels like.

Before my Nord, I used Rolands, which can sustain a sound while switching to another (although all the effects changed very noticeable at the moment of the switch, which was annoying).

Never found it a problem with my NS2. Within a program I'm able to switch a lot smoother then with my Roland (especially when using the Morph but most of the time there is no need).

I do not find my NS2 'pathetically useless' at all, but I'm proud to be a 'fanboy'.

I noticed this also on my 5D; very odd. I didn't even think a non-seamless (or very close to it) transition was even possible. Live and learn. Wow.

Yes, seamless transition among programs is imho the most important feature missing for me it is a must in live.Hope Nord will implementare that.Do they read the forums ?
I also wrote directly to them but received a laconic answer: we're working on it :(
In fact I'm thinking to move to other brands that can do that.
The fact that this issue comes up continuously means it is important.

I know I will be in the very small minority on this, but in 30 years of live performance with all kinds of keyboards, Sequential,Yamaha, Korg, Roland and Nord, there has never been a time where any audience would ever pay the slightest attention to the transition between programs/songs on my keyboards. The idea that the lack of this ability would make a keyboard "useless" in live performance is a mystery to me.

Maybe in an acoustic-style spoken word scenario this would be important, but in live band performance this has never been an issue in my experience.

Dear DJ, it is clear that it all depends on the usage you do with the keyboard, if it is not an issue for you, good for you.
But pls believe me when I say that if I could change programs and sounds seamlessly, I could do many more wonderful things with one single keyboard ( no need to use other ones ) and I would be pleased :D

Well, the Electro 5 isn't the most flexible of keyboards... The focus is quite clearly on quality of sound and not in functionality.

I know people who will keep the Electro in only one patch or two during any song. In fact, many have multiple keyboards with it. Mostly jazz players use it as their only board and they do not need seamless switching.

My point is that if you need a lot of functionality, you probably got the wrong keyboard. You would've been better off with a Korg Kronos or a Yamaha Montage (of which I prefer the latter). But if you were looking for the best Organ Emulation and one of the best electromechanical keyboard samples (for live use), then you chose the right instrument.

My 20 year old Yamaha P150 can do this for a start. It's a real shame. I appreciate it's an architecture thing but in such a good keyboard it's a bit of a flaw especially for the live musician who likes changing patches mid song. When playing in church, I often want to change the pad under the piano for the next verse and in slow stuff you want to hold the previous pad so that the next chord you play has the new pad.

Apparently I can program the A and B slots and that will allow me seamless transition but I'm new to my Nord and still learning. Anyone deny/confirm this? Thx.
