Hi there,
I´m new here, this is my first post!
I´m planning to Busk to get a bit of extra cash always needed.
What i have:
- Nord Electro 4
- vocal mic (shure beta)
What i need:
- Amplifier for both vocal and keys
- Power for keys and amplifier (if not battery amp)
So, I´ve been looking into sources of power mainly for the Nord as I am planning to get a battery powered amp (maybe typical roland cube or some other like this one: https://www.thomann.de/ie/ld_systems_road_jack_10.htm ...any suggestions would be great!!)
For POWER I´ve been reading a lot in forums and it doesn´t seem to be quite clear out there. I was thinking of battery + battery converter (my budget is limited)...could this damage my nord in any case?? What kind of battery would i need? Do you know any other option I could use to get power?
Lastly, I´ve been thinking of the option of going with a non-battery amp too, so I would need power for it too. U think this could get me a better quality amp (for vocal and keys) as it won't have the cost of battery included? any ideas of amps?
Thanks!
Andrew

Re: Busking with Nord Electro 4 + Vocal
I haven't done this myself, so this is just a technical analysis rather than one based on experience:
An inverter (230V, 50Hz) is necessary to supply AC power to the Nord. The Nord power supply needs AC and cannot be run directly from battery.
For amplification, I'm fond of my Roland BA-330. It can be powered off a cartridge of AA batteries, but also comes with an AC adapter. I bought mine used for C$350 (~250 euro). It's got 4 channels: 2 for mics/instruments and 2 for instruments only, nice reverb/echo filter (channel selective).
Look for something similar: A PA with instrument inputs (and reverb for the mic channel)
The Nord draws less than 30 watts (peak), the PA 5watts (average power, not peak). So you'd draw about 4 amps from a 12V battery. -- This includes the inverter's efficiency (I'm guessing at 75% here).
A fully-charged car battery is good for 45amp-hours. So you'd get about 11 hours from a car battery running both the Nord and the PA from the inverter.
I don't have a number for the Nord's average power consumption, so these numbers are near-worst case.
You might be able to get by with a lantern battery, like this for example:
http://www.batterymart.com/p-rayovac-926-12-volt-lantern-battery.html -at 7.2amp-hours it could last about 3 hours (assuming 2Amps average current draw). This battery isn't rechargeable though.
Has anyone measured their Nord's average power consumption?
