Add Drawbars to my Nord?

Postby Hanon_CTS » 13 Apr 2011, 15:12

I'd be interested in hearing from anyone with experience with this product.
I was almost considering buying a Voce to add midi drawbars, but this is a lot less money.

It's the Ocean Beach Digital DB-1 Drawbar Controller.

Pure genius! I was getting slightly frustrated with NE's lightbars uneven and unnatural action.

I'm gonna get one.

Thx

I recently purchased OB-1 drawbars for the same reasons you are considering. They do allow one to "feel" the drawbar settings ... Much easier to manipulate on the fly during a show. The do fit nicely on top of the E3 on the left side ... A great addition to my setup.

Have you tried controlling the light bars with an expression pedal. It's better than drawbars for sure. I'm convinced this product is for those who have not made this discovery.

What expression pedal? How does it work?

Thank you, Hotte

I have a stage ex, but I gather the electro 3 has a socket for a foot controller.

With the Stage Ex, you press the foot controller button and the drawbar lights disappear, apart from the one which shows where the end of the bar is, then you use the buttons to +/- the values. When you let go of the button and move the pedal, the bars move in or out. It really is very very very useful. Unless you have foot pedals, it's difficult to play jazz organ and move the drawbars, the foot pedal solves this perfectly.

I thought "Don't like the drawbars" when I got the EX first, however I actually prefer them to real drawbars and it's a lot easier to store presets as well!!!!

Hi Guys.
I was looking for drawbasr MIDI controller too. I have found a discussion at http://forums.musicplayer.com/ubbthread ... lone_MIDI_

these 2 items are considered the best
* Voce MIDIDRAWBAR
* Ocean Beach Digital DB-1

the last one is specially designed for NE.

There was one more product to manage the drawbars via MIDI: Native Instruments B4D Drawbar Controller. http://www.amazon.com/Native-Instrument ... B00097BS6E
It is discontinued but used items could be available.
