Hi,
I'm using a NS classic with a Yamaha FC7 as swell pedal for the organ section. Unfortunately when the pedal is on minimum, I still can hear some organ. Very disturbing when I try to layer the organ with let's say a rhodes.
I checked the setup, the swell pedal type is chosen to be a "yamaha" model, and the percentage shown in the setup menue when "moving it" goes from a 100% to 0% but at 0% it's still hearable!
Has anyone a similar problem? Anything I might be doing wrong?
P.S. I tried to use the pedal as a controller, and to control the section volume with it. But I'd like to use it as a swell, since the sound behaves differently and rather like a "real" B3...
THANX to any reply!
Chris

Re: Swell pedal on minimum still produces sound
Hi Chris,
I'm sure I remember reading that it was intentionally done that way to emulate the real thing, but I can't find a source for that memory (I've just checked the manuals).
However, in the System Menu you can set the Swell Pedal destination to either Organ or All. (Hang on, that doesn't help, does it!)
And, looking at the MIDI Controller List, the Swell pedal input transmits MIDI CC #4. The same pedal connected to the Control Pedal Input would transmit CC #11 (Expression). So, to do what you want you would need to use the latter.
Hope this helps
Andy

Re: Swell pedal on minimum still produces sound
Thanks Andy,
as I said: using the Pedal with the controller input works perfectly. I can control the organ section volume all the way down to silence.
Since I don't use distorted sounds so much it is "ok". Still: The Swell function should be adjustable. If I layer a rhodes and a hammond, and I want the hammond to "disappear" by using the swell pedal it is simply not possible!? At least I couldn't find out how...
Simulating the "real thing" doesn't make sense to me. Maybe with the C1 or C2, but certainly not with a stage model...
Anyway thanks for your answer. If anyone finds a sollution, I would be interested to know if / how it's possible!

That is indeed hard to have both at the same time. ;-)
Personally, I go the use it as control pedal since I only want to have one pedal.

Whereas I'm moving towards using a MIDI pedal board with 2 expression pedals: one for Control, one for Swell!

Re: Swell pedal on minimum still produces sound
I like having both options. I can choose to use it the real way (which is, swell option) or control the volume via control pedal. I tend to use more the second because I usually have layers and have the need to mute the organ or bring it up from 0. But if I were to play in other situations, I might find the swell option useful as it is.

YES:-) Sorry Johannes. I meant the fact that the volume doesn't go all the way down to "0" is weird to simulate in combination with the stage functions. OF COURSE the sound should be as close as possible to the REAL THING...:-)
And just to clearify: I love the nord stage - cool tool!

Yes! Are you listening Nord? Please make that an option in the System menu for the Swell pedal to go all the way down to 0!!!!

Re: Swell pedal on minimum still produces sound
have any of you found any solution to this yet???
i also have the Stage Classic (with the latest OS) and a Yamaha FC7 pedal connected to organ swell. and i too have this problem... :(
/Henrik
EDIT:
realized that the question was already answered... but it's a really crazy "feature" in my opinion. it's only causing me trouble, since i don't want to use the ctr.pedal as swell... :(

Re: Swell pedal on minimum still produces sound
a real hammond does the same thing.... try making preset II all draw bars in to mute quickly. this way the section is still lit up and you can still see your perc/chorus status
