Change Rotor Speed / Morphing...is it a bug??

Postby Johannes » 14 Jun 2010, 15:59

Hi,

I just recently came across a somewhat strange behaviour when using the MORPH feature to control the Rotary Speed using Aftertouch.

Depending on the setting I play, I use different ways of controlling the Rotary Speed, including manually, via Aftertouch or using the Sustain Pedal.

Now when I assign Aftertouch to control the Rotary Speed using MORPH, it does what one expect if and only if it is in LOW normally. That is, if it is on low and I use aftertouch, it changes to FAST as expected and goes back once I dont press the keys hard anymore.
However, when I want to play whole passages on FAST and switch it using the designated switch, it remains fast ONLY UNTIL I USE AFTERTOUCH ONCE. Once I press the keys harder, it goes back to SLOW and stays there.
Thing is, I would have expected that a switch is a switch so that onces its normally at fast Aftertouch should only temporarily change it to slow (as it does if starging in SLOW mode).

Dunno if this is a bug or a feature, but I would have preferred it the other way round, meaning that AT always just changes the speed no matter where to start with.

I know having seperate Rotary Speed Control would be best but it is just not worth it if I don't play too much Hammond these days and don't want to have another pedal.

Aftertouch still fits quite nicely IMHO as typically I play on Fast rather long holding Notes where I can easily activate AT durinng a certain period.
