Hi guys,
I really tried out different monitors over the years. The really best by far is my Bose L1 compact. I'm so happy since I have it!

Re: stage monitors
Thinking of buying two Bose L1 compacts for small to medium venues to use with NP 3 (solo jazz piano). One unit connected to R output, one connected to the L output. Anyone have experience/comments regarding this set up ??
Re: stage monitors
That would be a nice system.
A singer/guitarist colleague uses a similar LD Systems PA for his gigs. 2 small subs with mid/top columns.
Here's a link on the subject of using two L1 systems.

Re: stage monitors
My duo partner and I use a pair of Yamaha DXR10's as mains, which I also use as keyboard monitors. They can be had around $450-550 used, and I think they sound better than the QSC's (same form factor and power, but newer tech.
My old band, we used a TS212 and a TS215 for monitors. They sound pretty good, though don't have the punch and clarity of the Yamaha or QSC options. If it's just a stage monitor, then it's probably more than adequate for what you need. If you might be using them as a "keyboard amp" INSTEAD of going to the PA, I would probably spend the extra on a Yamaha, EV or QSC speaker.

Re: stage monitors
I used my new ts210 at rehearsal last night. I really didn't want to push them too much. I think they will work as stage monitors. They should be loud enough for that pirpose. I probably would use my EV ELX112Ps for gigs where i need to be louder or as "keyboard amp".

Re: stage monitors
My current rehearsal and stage setup in one of the bands I play in.
Details? Nord Piano 2, Electro 4D. Stay keyboard stand. A pair of RCF TTO8-a units pointed at my head.
The most frequent request I get from band member is "turn up!!!". OK, fine, if you insist.

Hi Cphollis,
Thanks for the pictures, finally we see what you have in action....Does it not bother you to have the sound coming from behind, especially for the Piano ones? I have the same position but towards me on guitar stand, so, the two Parasource Yorkville are mostly at the same angle but pointing at my ears In front of me...And I fill the monitors Aux out for the other band members...So, I wanted to ask your feeling....

No, it doesn't bother me to have the sound coming from behind. Since we have a vocals-only PA, I have to position my amplification in such a way that the band can hear it as well. I've been doing it that way for a while.
That being said, sometimes the placement is different. If there's enough stage room, sometimes I use poles behind me.
I've noticed with the higher-end gear that placement is a lot easier, and much less effort is required for EQ.
I think I have gear issues ....

Re: stage monitors
Looks good cphollis! Is that a Yamaha mixer?
More thoughts on the Alto Ts210s:
Love the size weight and handle placement - great physical design.
Descent sounding speakers for a very inexpensive price less than $500 for the pair. They can be harsh in the upper registers.
The Nord has sounded much better with other speakers though. Maybe further down the road I'll upgrade. The EV zxa1, 8" seem nice. I'm surprised EV hasn't upgraded the model though.
