Hi,
I'm looking at the QSC K8, and have a question.
If I have just one K8 which I'm using as a monitor, can I do this: plug Nord L and R outputs into the two channels of the K8; then take the two K8 XLR outputs to a mixing desk to use for stereo FOH?
In this case, I wouldn't need a DI box... would I?

Re: Quick question: QSC K8, stereo, no DI box?
You should be OK, but watch out for older Nords (e.g. Electro 3) that don't have much line level
Why not just send mono from the Nord? Your Stage 2 knows how to do that. It'll make better decisions on how best to present stereo sounds in mono.

I've done that myself. Be aware, though, that without the DI, you have no phase control or protection from phantom power coming from the board (accidentally left on in your channels).
You could also opt to send the combined mix as a single feed to the board, but be aware this post fader.
Chuck, to your question, I have found that sending both outs to the K8 sounds much better than using the mono switch and sending out one channel.
Another option is to consider an inexpensive mixer that will allow you to send independent feeds to the K8 and FOH.

Huh, didn't know that. Having never tried either, my assumption would be that the Nord would know how to do mono better. I wonder why that is?

BTW, about to pull the trigger on a pair of the new K8.2 units. I'll let y'all know what I think.

Re: Quick question: QSC K8, stereo, no DI box?
OK great thanks. I wouldn't want to take mono from the Nord because I (sometimes) want stereo FOH. It sounds like it would work fine, notwithstanding potential phase / phantom power issues, but I imagine the K8 will be fine with phantom power left on the channels.
Thanks!
Thanks!
