Re: QSC K Series 10 or 12?

I concur for the 10'. I have no experience with the QSC K12 or K10 but I have the Yorkville Parasource and yes, when I compared both the 10' and the 12', I went for the 10' because they were really close to the 12' and way more portable...So, I have the same set up, two 10' in stereo towards me...The band is renting other parasource for monitor, usually it was 10 or 12' according to the availability at my store and the size of the stage...So, 10' seems to be for you the best choice...

Now that the new K .2 series has been out for a bit, does anyone have an opinion on either of the K10.2 or K12.2? Has anyone A/B'd them and if so, which do you prefer?

I have not A/B'd the K10.2 nor the K12.2 as I'm not interested in that form factor for what I do. But the entire family uses the same platform, so here is what I would expect if I were ever to audition them. And I have a pair each of the legacy K10s and K12s to compare.

- significantly improved power and sound quality, roughly 50% better if my K8.2 experience is any indicator
- same directionality characteristics as the legacy K10 and K12. The K8.2 is 105 degrees dispersion, the K10.2 is 90, and I think the K12.2 is something like 70 degrees. Not what you want for smaller venues.
- flatter response curve across the board than legacy K10 and K12, which were a bit honky in places.
I think I have gear issues ....

cphollis....you're last response about being "honky" in places has been my only disappointment in the K series. As I mentioned earlier, I own a K10 and was thinking of getting one of the new K10.2 or K12.2. I know you said that they have a flatter response curve, but do you have an opinion which of the two would be less honky? K10.2 or K12.2? I always felt that a 10" speakerwould be less midrangey than a 12" speaker. You're opinion?

Sorry, Rufus, can't offer much of an opinion without hearing a K10.2 or K12.2.

The frequency response curves are here https://www.qsc.com/resource-files/prod ... ecs_en.pdf

To my eye, the K8.2 is the flattest, followed by K10.2 and then K12.2 But, then again, it's the ears that matter :)
