A typical problem I seem to run into is that the same overdrive that you expect to give you more punch will often undermine or thin out the sound giving the organ tone less authority and weight overall.
I believe it's easier to get a good sound at home but given a quick setup at the local bar etc, doesnt allow for elaborate wiring and gain controls being set just right. Also the 2 square foot area designated for me and my instrument doesnt help.
