Hi Guys,
I'm looking for good headphones to use with my NE3. Any suggestion is highly appreciated.

Re: headphones for NE3
Hi Whitenoise,
I am using Sennheiser pxc 350
They have a very honest sound.
It's difficult to get accustomed to a studio reference which is often frank, and unflattering, but the benefit is that you always know how something REALLY sounds.
If you can make it sound good in a studio reference, it'll sound great in nearly everything else.

Everything will be all right in the end. If it's not all right, then it's not the end.

Re: headphones for NE3
Hi Whitenoise,
there are many excellent headphones for keyboards out there. Only thing particular to the Nords is that you should not take a too high impedance (unless you use a dedicated headphone amp) as their outputs are a bit low.
In the keyboard forums Ive done my research I found the DT770-80Ohm a frequent favorite (http://www.amazon.com/Beyerdynamic-Pro- ... B0016MNAAI). Its a closed headphone.
Also the original AKG K240 Studio gets quite good comments (its out there for several decades) and there is an updated version MkII (but some people claim the original is better). These are semi-open, which is why personally I went for them as I like to hear some background and dont feel incapsulated but its a matter of preferences.
Both the AKG and Beyerdynamic are in the 100-150$/€ price range.
Then there are others, Sennheisers and ATH in particular, but don't know them very well.
But the best is to try them out, seriously!!

Re: headphones for NE3
I have been using the AKG 240s for years in my project studio. They are comfortable, relatively inexpensive, and have a pretty flat response, very accurate. I have four pairs, all of them many years old, they last forever.

Re: headphones for NE3
thanks Guys! I'm looking at AKG K 240 MK II now. It appears that AKG K 242 HD is based on famous 240 model too. The only difference is the cable can't be unplugged. I can get it for 130$ but K 240 MK II costs 220$. I don't want to pay 90$ for extra cable.

Re: headphones for NE3
That sounds indeed like a (too) big price difference, maybe check another dealer??
Here is to sum up between the three AKGs (prices from thomann):
Seems to me the MkII is the best value for the money but if you don't need the cable the original one might be best choice.
I really dig the exchangable earpads. The velvet/velours onces sound more bassy, but they feel nice in particular in winter, but I think I prefer the leather (imitate!) ones in general.

- K240 Studio: leatherette, cable exchangable, 91db/mW, max20kHz: 95 EUR
- K240 MkII: velours AND leatherette (exchangable), cable detachable (two cables included), 104db/mW, max25kHz: 124EUR
- K242-HD: velours, cable non detachable, 104db/mW, max25kHz: 111EUR

Re: headphones for NE3
Cheers Johannes. 220$ - is an official AKG local re-seller K240 MkII price. Some internet shops offer it for 180$. It is still 50$ more then K242 HD. It's probably market specific. K240 Studio must be end of live as it's not offered by any local shop anymore. I think I'm gonna get K242 HD :))

Re: headphones for NE3
All those 'phones are great, but for the price I strongly recommend the Sony MDR-7506. Long-time high quality standard.
Re: headphones for NE3
I realize that this thread is a year old by now, but I might as well post here since my question is related.
I need some proper headphones to use with my Nord Piano. I suppose the suggested ones in this thread are still good suggestions, but I wonder, has anyone tried the Beyerdynamic T70(p) alternative?
I assume the p (portable) alternative would be best suited due to the impedance level (as noted by Johannes).
These headphones are supposed to be really good and they are also very expensive - around 600 USD (in Norway at least).
My problem is that I cannot find this set in a local dealers shop, and I don't know if I'm able to hear them unless I go to Oslo or something.
Any experiences with these (with or without Nord equipment) would be appreciated.

Re: headphones for NE3
I'm going to have to give the Sony MDR series a thumbs up also. Maybe not the best but not an excessive emphasis in any frequency. I've tried several models over a period of time and find them pleasing in the under $100- category.
