Hi everybody,
I use a small Soundcraft mix table to drive my NS2 to amplification.
Sometimes it goes clipping slightly because all my patch levels are not exactly the same.
I would need a little help with a limiter.
Do someone use such a limiter to reduce the risk of clipping and what would you recommend me please ?
Thank you for any suggestion.
Cheers.
Fred.

Re: Compressor/limiter
Hi Fred,
I just edit my patches to even out the levels and use the onboard (Nord) compressor where necessary.
My thought follows along the lines of lex parsimoniae
or why have two of a thing, if one will do the job?
Just my two centavos worth....er, um maybe just one centavo
Cheers, Hanon

Everything will be all right in the end. If it's not all right, then it's not the end.

Re: Compressor/limiter
Thank you Hanon.
It was my first idea too.
I just have to read the manual to understand how this compressor works.
When I play the guitar I don't use so much compressor because I dislike the way it reduce the feeling of playing, but with a keyboard a small amount would do the job.
Thanks.
Cheers.

Re: Compressor/limiter
Hi Fred,
I wasn't implying use the compressor to even out the levels.
Each panel instrument has it's own level adjustment that can be stored as part of a program.
Evening out the levels would be the better starting point.
The NS2 onboard compressor is more of a global effect that all panels go through.

Re: Compressor/limiter
Hi Hanon,
That's true, the levels of all my patches are approximatively even (levels made from output volume from each panel) , the way I hit the keys could change a little fom a day to another and this may produce a light clipping.
To get rid of these small variations I wondered if a limiter could help, given an automatic leveling action instead of reduce / increase the mix table input level sliders all the time.
The levels are not bad, but they move a little bit around the right value.
Cheers.
